Getting around Prague:
You won’t be short of options to get around the city whatever your inclinations may be. You can walk, cycle or even make use of the paddleboat to work your way around Prague if you fancy taking the scenic routes.
If on the other hand you’re of the belief that walking is for wimps (!), then you’re in luck as Prague’s public transport system is second to none. You can take the TRAM, the Metro or the bus, and for something quirkier you can even make use of the city’s Funicular System, which runs up and down the city’s five hills.
If you’re located in the centre of town you won’t really need to use the bus, it’s handier for getting in and out of the suburbs, but the Metro will be your bread and butter. Colour coded, cheap and easy to use, the Metro system operates on three different lines, which cover the central area of Prague. It’s clean and pretty safe and you can hop onto one of the many trains from 5am to midnight.
Of course there’s no shortage of taxis throughout the city, but watch yourself here… many of them are con artists and you may wind up out of pocket for the smallest of journeys. Taxis congregating outside the major tourist attractions are notorious for being rip-off merchants, so mind yourself, keep an eye on the meter for your fare and bare in mind that many will charge you extra for your baggage.
If, however, you want to be your own driver and the master of your own routes then you could always hire a car in Prague (on our sister website Novacarhire.com)
