Old Town Hall

Prague
The Old Town Hall is another of the many must see attractions in Prague. It is actually a group of buildings, with each building with it’s own unique design.

You may be surprised by the building that looks the newest as it is in fact, the oldest. It was built in 1338 when King John of Luxembourg decided to set up a town council. A section of the Old Town Hall was destroyed in 1945 after the Second World War and as a result, it now looks like two buildings are connected as one. Inside the building you will find a colourful collection of gothic and renaissance façades.

The oldest part of the building has a tower and an oriel chapel, which is splendidly ornamented with its coats of arms. This tall tower, which stands at just under 69.5m,offers tourists one of the best views of Prague.

Probably the most famous feature of the Old Town Hall is the Astronomical clock, which was integrated into the structure in 1490. The key attraction is the hourly procession of the 12 Apostles where you’ll find loads of people gathered round to see it.
